Peachtree Park already has walking links in two directions. To the north, the Gordon Bynum pedestrian bridge crosses GA 400 to Lenox Square. To the south, PATH400 runs toward Miami Circle. The one stretch Buckhead's trail builders still have to finish runs along Highland Drive, through the middle of the neighborhood. A City of Atlanta scope of work now covers that third of a mile in linear feet and concrete widths, and Livable Buckhead's August 2026 update puts the start of construction in early 2027.
That makes Peachtree Park the hinge of the PATH400 system. The Peachtree Park Civic Association counts roughly 550 homes on 13 streets near Lenox Square. Every link in the larger trail network either ends at the edge of those streets or will soon run along one of them.
The Bynum Bridge is the neighborhood's oldest connection. The civic association describes it as a 223-foot pedestrian bridge over GA 400 that links Peachtree Park with Lenox Square and Shops Around Lenox.
What has changed is the ground on the far side. Urbanize Atlanta reported on September 29, 2026 that Buckhead Community Improvement District has finished every part of the $15.6 million Lenox Boardwalk. It is a 0.44-mile elevated path, 10 to 12 feet wide, that runs along Lenox Road from MARTA's Lenox station at East Paces Ferry Road to Peachtree Road, with new pedestrian lighting and updated traffic signal mast arms. Buckhead CID says the boardwalk sets the "design standard for the two sections still to come."
The next two sections are further off:
So for walking from Peachtree Park toward Lenox, the finished boardwalk is the change that is in place now. The bigger projects there are a year or more away.
On the other side of the Bynum Bridge, PATH400's existing southern section starts right where the neighborhood ends. Livable Buckhead's Denise Starling describes the route this way:
Overall, Starling writes, nearly five miles of PATH400 are now open in Buckhead, connecting neighborhoods, parks, businesses and four MARTA stations. That five-mile network reaches the bridge. It does not yet reach Peachtree Road.
Starling's summary of the missing piece is short. The trail will leave Peachtree Road between the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta and Embassy Suites, "travel briefly through the Peachtree Park neighborhood," and connect at the Bynum Bridge. In her words, the commercial core and the existing southern trail now "sit frustratingly close to one another without actually connecting."
The City's scope of work on the Georgia Procurement Registry gives the details. It bundles the Peachtree Park work with a second, separate segment on Adina Drive:
| Segment | Length | What gets built | Starts | Ends |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peachtree Park | 1,742 linear feet, 0.33 mile | On-street cycle track and 8 to 12 foot wide concrete multi-use trail | Martina Drive at Highland Drive | Highland Drive at Peachtree Road |
| Adina Drive | 750 linear feet, 0.14 mile | 10 foot wide concrete multi-use sidepath | Adina Drive at the Confluence Trail | Adina Drive at Lindbergh Drive |
The Peachtree Park scope also covers drainage structures, striping and signing, and utility relocation. Highland Drive is one of the neighborhood's own residential streets; the civic association's homepage gallery opens with a photo of a house on it.
The Georgia Procurement Registry notice, event PE-66062-NONST-2026-000000431, lists the City of Atlanta and ATLDOT as the issuers. It announces a prequalification phase for contractors, to be followed by an invitation for bids, and the listed work includes ADA features, traffic control, utility coordination, signage and pavement markings. The notice opened June 23, 2026, closed July 8, and is marked "Under Evaluation." Livable Buckhead expects construction to begin in early 2027 and finish later that year.
The PATH400 Greenway's own updates page still shows an older start date for this segment. The schedule to go by is the August 2026 one.
Until the Highland Drive work is done, the PATH400 Greenway says the trail can be followed on existing sidewalks along Tower Place Drive from Peachtree Road to the Lenox Road access point, though that stretch has no signs yet.
The Highland Drive segment is short, but it carries a lot of the network. Starling writes that finishing it creates "a continuous route from Peachtree Road through Peachtree Park to the Gordon Bynum Bridge and into the southern PATH400 section."
It is also one of two southern gap projects going through procurement together. The other is at PATH400's southern end, where existing sidewalks will be widened into a full pedestrian and bicycle connection to the Atlanta BeltLine.
The northern end is moving on its own schedule. Crews are building past Loridans Drive toward the Sandy Springs city limit, and the Atlanta portion is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2027. When that section and Sandy Springs' first stretch open, PATH400 will run about 7.4 continuous miles toward the Perimeter area.
Once Highland Drive is finished, Peachtree Park becomes the point where that 7.4-mile northern trail meets Buckhead's main commercial corridor. Starling places the start of that connection on Peachtree Road, between the InterContinental and Embassy Suites. Livable Buckhead's August 2026 roundup of new restaurants includes several on Peachtree Road and in Buckhead Village:
Inside the neighborhood, two quieter spots stay as they are. The civic association's Pocket Park playground is on East Paces Ferry Road. The one-acre Peachtree Park Nature Trail, donated by a builder when Darlington Commons was going up, runs between the end of Burke Road and Darlington Circle at Darlington Commons Court.
The Highland Drive link is still a 2027 project. This season, the Bynum Bridge walk north and the PATH400 walk south both lead to scheduled events:
| Date | Where | What |
|---|---|---|
| Saturday, Nov. 21, 4 to 7 p.m. | Miami Circle | Gallery Stroll, a free event with more than 10 galleries open |
| Nov. 14 to Dec. 24 | Lenox Square | Santa photos |
| Nov. 22 and Dec. 13, 7 to 9 p.m. | Lenox Square | Pet photos with Santa |
| Dec. 1, 6 p.m. | Lenox Square | Teal to Heal fashion show |
| Dec. 5, 1:30 p.m. | Lenox Square | The Atlanta Opera, free and open to all |
| Dec. 6, 9:30 to 11 a.m. | Lenox Square | Caring Santa, a sensory-friendly visit that requires a reservation |
Livable Buckhead holds the Miami Circle stroll on the third Saturday of every other month. Lenox's holiday dates are listed on Simon's Lenox Square events page. At Lenox, VIỆTVANA Phở Noodle House is listed as "Coming Soon," and What Now Atlanta reported that it is going into the space across from Sweetgreen.
Along Highland Drive, nothing has changed yet. The prequalification notice is still under evaluation, and the work is expected to start in early 2027.
If you own on Highland Drive or one of Peachtree Park's other 12 streets and want to talk through what a finished PATH400 connection could mean for your home, Nadine Lutz is glad to schedule a consultation or prepare a home valuation that takes this project's timeline into account.
